Launching our multi company project in China and Cambodia
This year we embarked on a journey with Den Hollandsche Gedenken, Cuperus Gedenken and 4 new companies from the Netherlands - B&S Natuursteen, Steenwerck, Stonebase, van der Ban, and their local suppliers in both China and Cambodia.
Our project focusses on improving the socially sustainable supply chains of granite from China and Cambodia. Jointly we will assess the supply chain actors and their production through a compliance ladder. The compliance ladder combines the EU Due Diligence legislation with the Chinese Laws and legislation for environment and people, both in China as for their suppliers from Cambodia. AN innovative project, with a framework that gives a practical approach to allign with international framework agreements.
After the initial assessments in 7 companies, the most pressing risks will be assessed and prioritized (following the OECD guidance), in close collaboration and discussion with local stakeholders we will address these focus risks in a 2 years execution phase. We are very pleased that we can set interventions to improve this chain over the next three years, especially because of the involvement and intrinsic motivation that we experience among the companies will be the formula to success!
